How to Become a Pharmacy Technician
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Submit a pharmacy technician license application to the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL)
- Choose one of the following education paths:
- Option A: Complete a Board-approved or ASHP-accredited pharmacy technician training program
- Option B: Complete 1,000 hours of supervised on-the-job pharmacy technician experience
- Pass a national certification exam (PTCE or ExCPT)
- Pass a criminal background check and submit fingerprints
- Renew license every two years
