How to Become a Pharmacy Technician

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Choose one of the following training paths:
    • Option A: Complete a pharmacy technician program at an accredited institution
    • Option B: Complete a 1,000-hour supervised internship under a licensed pharmacist
  • Pass a national certification exam (PTCE or ExCPT)
  • Apply for certification with the Puerto Rico Board of Pharmacy
  • Renew certification every three years
