How to Become a Pharmacy Technician
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Submit a pharmacy technician registration application to the Maine Board of Pharmacy
- Choose one of the following paths (if seeking certification or advancement):
- Option A: Complete a Board-approved or nationally accredited pharmacy technician training program
- Option B: Accumulate sufficient on-the-job experience under a licensed pharmacist
- (Optional) Pass the PTCE or ExCPT to become nationally certified
- Renew registration annually
