How to Become a Pharmacy Technician

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Choose one of the following qualification paths:
    • Option A: Complete an associate degree in pharmacy technology
    • Option B: Graduate from a Board-approved training program
    • Option C: Graduate from a pharmacy school
    • Option D: Hold national certification and complete 500 hours of supervised pharmacy experience
    • Option E: Complete 1,500 hours of supervised on-the-job experience as a pharmacy clerk or technician
  • Submit an application, background check, and supporting documentation
  • Renew registration every two years
